The Professional Lighting Design Convention is the flagship of the Educational Events Division of VIA Publishing. The event, a first of its kind, took place in London/UK in 2007 and in Berlin/D in 2009, and was repeated in Madrid/E in 2011. The latter attracted 1230 attendees. Partners from industry, professional associations and universities have supported the event over the years. The next PLDC will be held in Copenhagen/DK in October 2013.
For further educational events such as the realisation of PLDA workshops VIA Publishing has acquired a monopoly position and the trust of partners in industry, including Philips, Osram, Erco, Zumtobel and many more. Workshops have been held all over Europe and in India. Over the last 24 months cities outside of Europe (USA, CDN) have expressed their interest in hosting such an educational event and the workshop format is being developed and introduced in further parts of the world.

All events are supported through the Professional Lighting Design magazine. A special version dedicated to the UK market will be established which will contain a UK-focussed market section and news and views on local activities.
